From the Chapter: COLLEGE – Kitchen Music
Guac with heat, cumin, and unspoken tension. The bite she fed him was more than just a flavor test—it was a beginning.
Will’s Perfect Guacamole
“Listen, good guac is about balance—flavor, texture, and making sure you sneak a taste before your cooking partner eats it all.”
“The cumin? Yeah, that’s my secret. But the real secret? Guac always tastes better when someone feeds you the first bite. (Lauren can vouch for this one.)”
Also:
- “Mash it, but don’t kill it.” (Will’s official stance on guac texture.)
- “Avocados are like people—gotta catch ‘em at the right moment or it all goes south.”
- “Lime juice: if you think you’ve added enough, add more.”
My secret recipe that earned Lauren’s seal of approval
- Ripe avocados
- White onion, finely diced
- Jalapeño, seeded and minced
- Fresh cilantro, chopped
- Lime juice
- A pinch of cumin (the secret ingredient)
- Salt to taste
- Extra splash of lime (Will’s signature touch)
Mash avocados and mix in other ingredients. Don’t over-mix – keep it a little chunky for texture.
